project purpose

This Fatherhood project began over three years ago, and it has grown into a very moving personal assignment. However, I soon learned that these Dads were all around me - fathers of my kids’ friends, friends of mine, people I work with, the head of my kid’s parent teacher organization, coaches, grandfathers at the park.

When I first became a father, I thought a lot about… Continue

nighttime

I was up three times with my son last night – covers all messed up, bathroom run, and a scary dream. I was exhausted by the third time, and almost getting exasperated, until he said, “Sorry I keep waking you up, Daddy.” How can you be annoyed after that?

nightmare medicine

he comes in after a nightmare,
half asleep i lift up the cover and let him crawl in
he curls up with my arm draped over his shoulder,
i want to hold your arm, he mutters, and drifts off

Looks like it's going to be a great book Robert! I became interested in Father's books around 2001 when I found Joe Kelly's "Dads & Daughters," and he had a website of that name. Now he's the Dadman, found on www.thedadman.com which is full of good info. I like your book idea because it gives vignettes of the various experiences and thoughts Dad's encounter. You might want to share this with Harry Crouch of http://www.californiamenscenters.org/ too, he would love this book and would put it in his ginormous emailing list. If you contact him, tell him I sent you.
